Nicky Spence records Shakespeare!
31 Oct 2012
The end of a busy summer for Resonus came with a stunning recording of Shakespeare settings performed by acclaimed tenor Nicky Spence with master accompanist Malcolm Martineau at the piano, recorded in the sumptuous surroundings of the chapel of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge.
No other writer has influenced so many composers over hundreds of years in the same way Shakespeare has, and this new recording will serve up a wide-ranging programme of well and less-known settings of texts by the Bard. Included are some unusual Jazz-inspired works from John Dankworth, while making his first appearance on record with a new setting of songs from The Tempest is BBC Young Composer of the Year Alex Woolf.
