Landscapes, real and imagined: Chamber works by Judith Bingham
Yeree Suh (soprano)
Chamber Domaine
Landscapes, whether real or imagined have been a recurring theme in the chamber music of Judith Bingham, performed here by the internationally renowned Chamber Domaine and the supremely talented Korean soprano Yeree Suh.
Featuring a wide variety of her chamber music from across her career as a composer, this album, consisting entirely of world premiere recordings, includes one of Bingham’s most performed works – Chapman’s Pool for piano trio – and the extremely virtuosic setting for solo soprano of words by David Lyons, The Cathedral of Trees.
Also included is My Father’s Arms, commissioned by Chamber Domaine to mark the composer’s 50th birthday, which is a powerful and emotive response to the impact of war on children.
