Alexandra Dariescu is an acclaimed pianist renowned for her fearless curiosity and innovative artistry. From beloved classics by Tchaikovsky, Grieg, Chopin and Ravel, to rediscovered works by Clara Schumann and Nadia Boulanger, she is recognised as a distinct voice on the international piano stage.

A sought-after soloist, Dariescu has performed with the BBC Symphony, Academy of St Martin in the Fields, the Sydney and Melbourne Symphonies, Orchestre National de France, the Royal Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestras and the Houston, Detroit, Seattle and Vancouver Symphonies. She has collaborated with renowned conductors including Ádám Fischer, Cristian Măcelaru, Alain Altinoglu, JoAnn Falletta, John Storgårds and Krzysztof Urbański.

In addition to making her anticipated BBC Proms debut with The Hallé, Dariescu's recent highlights include performances with the Philharmonia Orchestra at the Enescu Festival, season opening concerts with the Estonian National Symphony and Brussels Philharmonic Orchestras, the Malmö and Aalborg Symphony Orchestras, the Royal Philharmonic and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestras, and a critically acclaimed UK tour with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra. Additional debuts took her to the Pacific Symphony in California and on Southbank Centre’s Piano Recital Series.

Her multimedia recital production The Nutcracker and I has reached global audiences across four continents, recently celebrating its 100th performance at London’s Barbican Centre. Her acclaimed discography spans ten albums, including concertos by Clara Schumann, Grieg, and Tchaikovsky.

An advocate for diverse repertoire, Dariescu has premiered and recorded works by Dora Pejačević, Doreen Carwithen, James Lee III, and Leokadiya Kashperova. She co-created educational programmes for the London Symphony Orchestra and Leeds International Piano Competition, where she launched the ‘Alexandra Dariescu Award’ to honour female composers.

Mentored by Sir András Schiff and Dame Imogen Cooper, Dariescu received the Order ‘Cultural Merit’ (Knight) from Romania and is Professor of Piano at Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
