Platinum Consort
Scott Inglis-Kidger (conductor)

The Platinum Consort, with their director Scott Inglis-Kidger, make their debut recording on Resonus with a programme of music both for and inspired by the Tenebrae tradition.

Featuring some of the most powerful and poignant choral music to come from the western world, the Platinum Consort present a survey of works from the sixteenth century to the present day - including James MacMillan's stunning Miserere and Tenebrae settings by the consort's composer-in-residence Richard Bates. The recording also includes In The Dark composed by Bates especially for this recording.

‘This is a hugely impressive debut from the Platinum Consort [...] whose gloriously clean and focused sound is perfectly captured in this meticulously recorded sound’

- The Observer

'This intimate music making draws you in ineluctably [...] This interesting, sensitively sung programme recorded with gleaming clarity [...]'
BBC Music Magazine

'Careful attention to phrasing keeps the music tight and clean, and allows it open out and breathe while at the same time giving just the right impression that the singers themselves don't need to breathe much. This is singing that brings great pleasure.'
International Record Review

'The performances and sound quality of this album are uniformly excellent, and the overall program is satisfyingly constructed. The Platinum Consort is an eight-voice ensemble whose choral sound is the nearly vibratoless pure tone employed by many British choirs, and it works quite effectively in this program.'
Fanfare Magazine

‘This is a hugely impressive debut from the Platinum Consort [...] whose gloriously clean and focused sound is perfectly captured in this meticulously recorded sound’

Album of the Weekend, 11-12 August 2012
Classic FM

'The alchemical symbol for platinum is a union of silver and gold and that is the quality of the Consort’s singing, naturally bright even in solemn context, but richly toned and weighty where required.'
Choir and Organ

'The vocal balance is striking throughout. Though the ensemble includes two counter-tenors which give a suitably early music feel to the recording, the addition of two soprano voices adds an unexpected richness and warmth.'
Lark Reviews

'Before we applaud the music on this splendid new release we want to salute a new vocal group and get our praise in now, so we can say you heard about it here first.'
