Following their acclaimed debut release on Resonus Classics (The Waiting Sky, 2019), the award-winning vocal ensemble Sansara presents an album of choral works and electronic refractions by their Associate Composer, Marco Galvani.

Recorded in the midst of the global pandemic of 2020, Invisible Cities showcases Galvani’s distinct voice through a synthesis of contrasting sound worlds. This powerful sequence of new music features settings of well-known sacred texts, reflecting on the importance of community and hope in times of fear and uncertainty.

'This fusion of choral and electronic timbres makes for compelling listening. Taking familiar Latin liturgical texts including Lamentations and Ubi caritas and treating them in this blended way is very successful. Galvani’s music opens us up to new possibilities whilst still remaining rooted in the traditional.'

'This is Sansara's second disc for Resonus and the performances are superb. The choir seems really to enjoy Galvani's particular brand of contemporary polyphony. These are pieces which work well in a ligurgical context or in concert alongside older polyphonic music and the way the programme has been assembled with the electronic pieces for contrast succeeds in making a striking programme sequence, one which makes you intrigued to hear more by this composer'
