Stephen Farr (organ & harpsichord)

Resonus Classics is proud to present the acclaimed organist Stephen Farr in a programme of recent works for the organ by the British contemporary composer Judith Bingham.

Consisting entirely of world premiere recordings, this significant collection has been recorded on an outstanding selection of important instruments - the organs of St Edmundsbury Cathedral, St Albans Cathedral and Trinity College, Cambridge. The recording also includes Tableaux Vivants for solo harpsichord (premiered by Farr in 2014), and Bingham’s magnum opus for the organ, The Everlasting Crown, also premiered by Farr in the BBC Proms.

Farr is joined by organist Jeremy Cole for the first recording of Bingham's organ duet The Linnaeus Garden.

'The Everlasting Crown certainly counts as one of the more significant organ works of the post-Messiaen age. Stephen Farr is proving himself to be one of the most persuasive and compelling advocates for new British organ music and, as with his recent two-disc set of Leighton’s music (4/17), these performances are beautifully prepared and powerfully delivered.'

- Gramophone

'This bumper collection of recent works by Judith Bingham is a very welcome addition to Resonus’ catalogue [...] The scope of these works as well as the fine playing from Stephen Farr on a variety of instruments makes this a very useful and enjoyable collection.'
Lark Reviews

'Superbly performed and recorded on a collection of admirable instruments, specifications of which are all given in the booklet, this is an invaluable set of fine works by a composer of whose music we should all be keenly aware.'
